“Corrigo” Editor’s Corner
I am amazed at just how quickly a Year can slip by? It seems like yesterday when we received info on the 47th Annual STC Conference in Orlando, Florida and now, I find we are just months away from the 48th Annual STC Conference in Chicago.
As with past STC Annual Conferences, we will be holding a SIG Business Meeting and the SIG Networking Luncheon. At both these events we will be able to meet and exchange information and ideas for the newsletter, for the SIG and any other editing issues you may have. More on this will follow when the information is available.
In this issue of the newsletter, we have published some more valuable and informative articles from our members. Marcy Pack has contributed an article that gives you a few pointers on how expanding your role can boost your profession, your employer and your career.
Your company presently does not have a style guide and wondering if you need one? Have a look at Melanie Flanders’ article “Who Needs a Style Guide”. Her article explains why you need a style guide and she also included her “five step process of developing a style guide”.
Have you ever had to edit documents written by a person who speaks English as a second language? Alan Kelly has contributed an article which tells us about his experiences. Our cover story is the third of a four part series of an article by Geoff Hart on effective onscreen editing.
Also, we are looking for a few good topics and some volunteers to serve as moderators for the 48th Annual STC Conference in Chicago. See 48th Annual STC Conference article on page 3 for more information.
Hope you enjoy this issue.
