Summit 2013 Activities
The Technical Editing SIG continued its tradition of being active in the STC Annual Conference.
- At our business meeting, held on Monday, May 6, we reviewed our accomplishments over the past year, presented certificates for our first-ever SIG awards, and recruited a new water cooler chat volunteer, Wendy Mastandrea. Welcome to the SIG volunteer team, Wendy!
- Several SIG members and volunteers were Summit presenters, including Andrea Wenger (communications manager), Louise Galindo (SIG co-manager), and Meredith Kinder (past SIG co-manager).
- Once again, we hosted our popular table at the Communities Reception, where our visitors learned more about our SIG while enjoying a variety of Ghirardelli chocolates.
Upcoming Programs
We have two great programs coming up that are open to both members and non-members of our SIG.
- On July 24, from 3:00 to 4:00 pm Eastern time, we’ll be holding our first fundraiser meeting of the year. Our presenter will be Lori Fisher, who will discuss “An Executive’s View of the Role and Value of Editing.” In this interactive discussion, Lori will give us her perspective on the changing role of editors as we move to a world of dynamic online content, embedded assistance, video content, and social media. She will also discuss ways to articulate the value of editing to the decision-makers in your company. For more information, and to sign up, visit http://stc-techedit.org/An+Executive%27s+View+of+the+Role+and+Value+of+Editing.
- On August 21, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm Eastern time, we’ll be holding our second quarterly member meeting. Our presenter will be Andrea Wenger, who will discuss “Strategies for Simplifying Your Writing.” The meeting is free to SIG members and open to non-members for a small fee.
