Technical Editing SIG Named STC Community of Excellence
We have some great news: The Technical Editing SIG has been named an STC Community of Excellence for the year 2012! The Community Achievement Award (CAA) evaluation team recognized us “For increasing your membership by offering the innovative watercooler chat sessions, a growing scholarship program, and providing editing resources and leadership, all of which strengthen your focus on quality and add value for members.” Our SIG, along with other CAA award recipients, will receive an award certificate at the Summit 2013 Leadership Day.
The Community Achievement Award recognizes the accomplishments of professional chapters, student chapters, and SIGs in achieving the Society’s goals through their programs and activities. The Technical Editing SIG was also an STC Community of Excellence for 2011.
SIG Activities at Summit 2013
We will be active at Summit 2013, May 5 through 8.
Business Meeting
If you’re a SIG member, join us at our annual Business Meeting, typically held at midday on Tuesday. Attending the business meeting is a great way to meet fellow members, find out what is planned for the SIG, and sign up as a volunteer! We will be summarizing the SIG’s accomplishments over the past year, and recognizing the work of our terrific volunteers. We will also be presenting certificates to the first recipients of our new SIG awards program:
- New Volunteer – Dan Reichers, SIG Treasurer
- Volunteer of the Year – Rebekka Andersen, scholarship manager; Li-At Ruttenburg, fundraiser events manager, and Ann Marie Queeney, quarterly events manager
Communities Reception
Once again, we will be hosting a table at the Communities Reception on Monday, May 6. Our popular table provides an opportunity for us to talk with conference attendees and invite them to get to know us better. If you would like to volunteer to help staff our table, contact the co-managers at info@stc-techedit.org.

Are the dates supposed to be 2017 and 2018, rather than 2012 and 2013?
No, the dates are correct.
I was doing some housekeeping and these old posts got republished.
Nice to see that you noticed, though. 🙂
