Quo Corrigo? Survey Results

At the end of April 2018, we sent out a survey called “Quo Corrigo?” asking Corrigo readers to tell us about what kind of content they wanted to see here.

We felt that Corrigo should only present information that focuses on technical editing, rather than on generic technical communication. But we weren’t sure what that meant exactly, so we turned to you to help us define the future scope and direction of Corrigo.

As of the end of June 2018, we’ve received 35 responses to our survey, and we thank all of you who took the time to tell us your opinions.

New Feature: From Around the Web!

As the official publication of the STC Technical Editing SIG, Corrigo is full of useful information for technical editing practitioners.

But we aren’t the only source of useful information for technical editing practitioners – the Web has lots of great blogs, articles, and sites with loads of relevant and important stuff for our professional development.

To make sure that this scattered information reaches a wider audience, we are introducing a new feature – From Around the Web!

Have you come across some information somewhere on the Web that you think needs to be brought to the attention of Corrigo’s readers? If you’ve spotted great content in the wild, send us a link to it at editor@stc-techedit.org, and we’ll consider adding it to our From Around the Web feature.

To make it easier for you to find these articles again in the future, they will be tagged with a From Around the Web tag, and the titles prefaced with the same phrase.

New Feature: Of Interest!

As the official publication of the STC Technical Editing SIG, Corrigo is full of useful information for technical editing practitioners.

But nothing can beat the experience of a live interaction, when like-minded technical editing practitioners get together to discuss ideas that lead to further professional development.

Events of interest to technical editing practitioners happen frequently (both face-to-face and online) and all over the world. And even if you couldn’t make it to one of them, someone who did can write a summary of what they learned and share it with the wider technical editing community.

To make sure that information about events of interest (both past and future) reaches people who want to know more, we are introducing a new feature – Of Interest!

Have you been to a presentation, webinar, or conference and learned something that you think needs to be brought to the attention of Corrigo’s readers? Do you know of a get-together, meetup, or talk that you think Corrigo‘s readers might want to attend? If so, write a summary of the event, send it to us at editor@stc-techedit.org, and we’ll consider adding it to our Of Interest feature.

To make it easier for you to find these articles again in the future, they will be tagged with an Of Interest tag, and the titles prefaced with the same phrase.

A Word from the New Editor!

Yoel_Strimling_HeadShot

Hi! My name is Yoel Strimling and I’m the new editor of Corrigo! First, a little about me:

When people ask me what I do, I tell them I spin straw into gold.
I’ve been an editor for 20 years, and over the course of my career, I’ve successfully improved the content, writing style, and look and feel of my employers’ most important and most used customer-facing documentation by researching and applying the principles of documentation quality and survey design.

I’ve presented twice at STC Summits: once in 2008 (Editing Modular Documentation: Some Best Practices) and once in 2017 (So You Think You Know What Your Readers Want?).
I’m a member of tekom Israel and a Senior Member of STC.

I’m really excited to be here and lend my expertise to this great resource – but it won’t be great if you don’t help! We’re looking for STC Technical Editing SIG members to contribute to Corrigo – for more details, see the About Corrigo page.

If you are interested in helping out or submitting to Corrigo, please email me at editor@stc-techedit.org.

I look forward to hearing from you!
